In February I will be sowing: Aubergines, Chilli's & Peppers, Broad beans, Lettuce, Onion & Viola, as well as a few others. If your growing space is limited, opt for compact varieties of aubergine & chilli, pinstripe is a great compact aubergine variety, you could sow spring onions instead of bulbing onions, and you could try 'field beans' instead of 'broad beans'.. I'd also suggest opting for winter lettuce varieties if.
Possible such as 'Brighton greenhouse' or an all rounder like 'Marvel of all four seasons' if you don't have an indoor growing space, but any will do. Both chillis and aubergines take several months to produce fruit so good to get them started early, they will need some heat and protection though, so something like a heat mat or a propagation box on a sunny windowsill. I start lettuce around mid-month and plant them either in the polytunnel or outside when they are young plants with a fleece cover so I’ll have a nice supply of early leaves.
