Pro tip: you can’t add extra items once you’re seated, but they do take both cash and credit. We went for the Ichioshi Combo for two, which comes with mini versions of their best sellers. Sitting at the counter meant we could watch everything being cooked right in front of us—definitely part of the fun. First was the pork sirloin scallop okonomiyaki, finished with mustard and mayo. The scallop was juicy and tender, and the mustard gave it a sharp kick. Next came their six-ingredient special, topped with mustard, mayo, and green flakes. Every bite was different—shrimp, squid, octopus, noodles with a bit of crunch. It honestly felt like a treasure hunt. By the end, they even handed us a little rabbit-shaped toothpick holder (a cute touch). Final thoughts? Probably two of the best okonomiyaki I’ve had in Japan. The mini portions were perfect, the flavours were spot on, and the whole meal only took about 25 minutes.
